No One Deserves To Be Bullied.

So I read a book yesterday. It was quite old, but a message still got through to me.
Bullying can happen in a number of ways. It may not always be visible, and sometimes it may be so subtle that you don't even realise it's happening. It can lead to depression and thoughts of suicide, and in extreme cases, actual suicide. Just thinking about what people have gone through, through bullying depresses me. But instead of being depressed about it, I've decided I should do something about it. I've decided to start off with writing this blog post and creating a page on facebook.

I've been bullied, and it wasn't even severe, but it hurt. I was bullied only minimally and I felt so hurt, I hate to think how others feel who have been bullied much worse than me.

"Sticks and stones may break you bones, but words will never hurt you."

I believe that this quote is only true if you don't let the words hurt you.
But it's so hard to not let it hurt you.

The book I read was What's Your Problem? by Sherry Ashworth

I love names #2

So hopefully this will be a Saturday trend, rating the baby names :) Of course, as soon as I say this, it probs won't last ;)

Ella Amy - Cute :) I like both names. 7.5/10

Rosie Joan - Not really a fan of Joan, but I don't hate it. 7/10

Jack Peter Izaak - If it was just left as Jack Peter it would have been adorable! I hate the name Isaac spelt like that... 7/10

Harrison William - Very nice strong names 8/10

Aliera Kate - Wow I'm really not a fan of Aliera, but I like the name Kate. 5/10

Hayden George - I really don't like the name Hayden. 5/10

Charlie Marie - Adorable :) 7.5/10

Madeline Lucy - Beautiful names. Love both of them. 9/10

Rylee Alex - I very much don't like Rylee and Alex is a nickname in my eyes. 3/10

Sophia Robin Phoebe - Bit of a mouthful, don't like the name Robin. 4.5/10

Amie Rose - I prefer it being spelt Amy, but still 7.5/10

Ella Clare - Absolutely beautiful. 8/10

Sophie Aurelia - Not really a fan. 6/10

Benjamin Joseph - I really like both names. 7.5/10

Travis Neville - Ugh terrible. 2/10

Bullshit.

Being at school and now being the brightest or most organised of students, I have learnt the magic art of 'bullshitting' my way through tests when I don't know an answer. I mean, it can only work to an extent, and I have to have basic background of the topic (unless it's multiple choice, then I usually take an educated guess.) But the amount of times I have made something up that sounds semi right that I have earnt marks for on a test have been endless. I do well in school. Not the best - that's Steph for sure, but I do well.

But I now find myself in the situation where I can't really crap on about nothing. Being in year 11 now, everything that is assessed is marked down, and everything that is marked down goes towards our end of year results. And I really want to do well! So I've studied. I study for at least an hour a night, and sometimes up to 3. I have this in class essay tomorrow (which I have studied for), but still I don't feel as though I'm going to do well. In class essays are my most hated of assessments to complete as I seem to rush to get all my points down and never elaborate as much as I would like to.

I just want to do well. But I stress so much over remembering all my points and my quotes and rush so much during the time to get all my points down that the essay always relates poorly to the writing that I can do in my spare time. In my last in class essay I go an A-. I'm hoping to stay at that benchmark...I don't feel confident enough to say that I want an A, because right now it really doesn't seem achievable.

I love names.

For as long as I can remember, I've been obsessed with names. I just love names so much that every Saturday my mum and I read the birth notices and discuss all the new born names. Here are the names from yesterday's paper and my thoughts on them. I also like determining if their names go with the names of their siblings.

Hugh William - Both names are nice, Hugh is becoming pretty popular lately. 8/10. Has a brother named Evan, Hugh and Evan go nicely together.

Charlotte Isabelle - I absolutely adore both of these names. Even though they are both very popular, they are simplistic and beautiful. 9/10

Abby Suzanne Elizabeth - I have this thing where for most names I can't stand it if the parents have named them a nickname as their full name, such as Abby. Not the biggest of fans of either nicknames, but I get the feeling that there is some sort of family meaning behind them. 6.5/10

William Alexander - Both names are great, would have preferred Alexander William, but it is still a fantastic combo. 8.5/10

Riley Peter - I'm not a fan of the name Riley, but I love the name Peter. 7/10

Charlie Frederick - This is a name in which I can tolerate it being a nickname as the first name. The name Charlie has become really popular lately and I adore it. I'm not a very big fan of Frederick though, so that brings my rating down a bit. 8/10

James Alexander - A classic and beautiful name. 8.5/10 Brother for Amy and Benjamin. Amy, Benajmin and James go very nicely together :)

Hudson Richard - I went through a phase really liking the name Hudson, but I have recently fallen out of that phase. It's a bit too out there for me. 6.5/10

James Kenneth  - I like it, but it's nothing spectacular. 7/10 Brother for Alex and Mikayla. Not a fan of the family combo much.

Estelle Lucia - Oh how I wish this name was Estella! I don't particulary like either names, but it does sound rather pretty. 6.5/10

Isabella Kronhoej - First off, I adore the name Isabella. I figure Kronhoej has some sort of family meaning. 8/10

Cameron Elliot - Like Cameron, but not really Elliot. Both are pretty decent name though. 7.5/10

Zachary Laurence - I really don't like either names. 4/10

And that's it! There are usually more names, but there was still a bit to work with :)
My top boy and girl names were:
William Alexander and Charlotte Isabelle

That's right, I read books.

I find it frustrating sometimes when I try to have a conversation with someone about what they have recently read or what they are currently reading, and they say "I don't read."
I mean seriously?

Of course there is no obligation for people to read books, but people have taken the time to write books, they have a right to be read.

Some books have changed my perspective on life. Others have given me light hearted entertainment. Reading itself gives me some emotional relief.

But that's just me. I do tell people they should try reading and suggest books to them, but they reply with "I have no time." That night I see them on Facebook. Whilst I'm on Facebook, and I still manage 2 hours of study and 100 pages a night.

UGH. whatever. Books are amazing, read them or not if you want, it's your choice.

Here's the list of the books I've read this year:
1. Beautiful Malice - Rebecca James
2. 13 Reasons Why - Jay Asher
3. Paper Towns - John Green
4. Purge - Sarah Darer Littman
5. Such A Pretty Girl - Laura Wiess
6. Crank - Ellen Hopkins
7. Glass - Ellen Hopkins
8. Burned - Ellen Hopkins
9. The Burmudez Triangle - Maureen Johnson
10. The Graveyard Book - Neil Gaiman
11. Being - Kevin Brooks
12. I Was a Teenage Fairy - Francesca Lia Block
13. Private - Kate Brian
14. The Alchemyst - Michael Scott
15. An Abundance of Katherine's - John Green
16. Sweethearts - Sara Zarr
17. 20 Boy Summer - Sarah Ockler
18. Wings - Aprilynne Pike
19. Truth - Peter Temple
20. Allies of the Night - Darren Shan
21. Girl Interrupted - Susana Keysen
22. The Summoning - Kelley Armstrong
23. Captivate - Carrie Jones
24. Catching Fire - Suzanne Collins

And I'm currently reading Loathing Lola by William Kostakis.
My goal at the beginning of the year was to read 50 books, but I think I'm going to pass that easily :)

Today's Front Page of Celebrityfix.com

1. 80s stars: Where are they now?
Well it included a photo gallery! And I love the photo galleries, but it was ridiculously long and I didn't really care for more of the people in them.

2. Watch: Kylie Minoque kisses her man on stage
No. I didn't watch. I don't want to watch. BUT judging from the picture given, it looks like she's pretty out of it.

Oh god I do hope she fell off stage.

3. Bad hair alert! Did Corey Feldmen get a fringe extension?
I'm not even going to show the pic, as it's ridiculous..
WHO THE FUCK IS COREY FELDMEN?

4. Jennifer Love Hewitt is getting called fat again
Leave her alone! I could rant all day about how celebrities are sending such a bad message body image wise with their crazy small bodies. From the picture she looks amazing. Maybe she's like me...she's rather be normal than anorexic.

5. Vanessa, Miley, Scarlett all targeted by professional nude photo hacker ring
LOL.

6. Joe Jonas and Ashley Greene broke up
Well I don't really care for either of them, hence I don't care about this.

7. Emma Watson's Bieber hair: hot or not?
NOT.
I don't care how pretty she is. (She's ridiculously pretty) I just hate this hair style on her. Go back to the pixie!

8. Wedgie! David Beckham (and other stars) battle with disappearing undies.
Now this IS a lol-worthy photo gallery. Check it out?
http://celebrities.ninemsn.com.au/slideshowajax/154008/wedgie.slideshow

9. Beckhams reveal sex scan horror
First off, I'm so happy for them that they're having a girl! Finally! Although their sons are very cute, a girl is going to be awesome for them :)
Cannot believe the doctor mucked it up and told them they were having a boy! But at least the mix up was fixed before they announced it.

10. Katy Perry's disapproving Christian mum is writing a tell-all book
One book I definitely won't be reading...

Striving for my new goal.

For a long time, I've found it hard to find the motivation to study. Sure, my homework eventually gets done, but I never have the energy or motivation for extra study. I only do what is needed of me, and even though I do well in school, I always know I can do better. This is because I've never had anything in sight to strive towards. I've always known I've wanted to do something businessy (general business studies at UTAS or Sports Management at Deakin). But neither of these screamed at me.

Today I found something. A university in Adelaide that specialises in Hotel Management. It goes for 4 years. 6 monthes of work in Adelaide and then they send you off for 6 monthes in another country to do work experience. By the end of the 4 years I'll have 2 double degrees and would have been to 4 countries.
Although I don't plan to go into Hotel Management afterwards, it still gives me degrees in business management, and I will have 2 years of experience working in a busy environment.

I want this so bad.

I now find that I want to do really well in school so that I can get a place there in 2013. (They only take 90 people!)

I finally have something to strive for! :)
