My plans for May.

Yeah, so I haven't blogged properly in a rather long time! I'm currently stealing Lucy's idea (because it's a very good one) and I'm going to write a list of things I want to achieve this month. I saw Lucy do this, and achieve pretty much all of them. So here it goes:

  • Drive at least 2 hours a week
  • Continue with at least 3 hours of study a night
  • Exercise every day - If I don't have a netball/soccer or training that day - go for a bike ride or run.
  • Work every week - doesn't matter how long
  • Continue to read at least 100 pages a day.
  • Spend every Friday night doing something. Friday is my no homework night, it's prime time to socialise and spend time with people.
  • Write in my diary every night.
  • Plan a really nice 17th for myself :)
That's it! A lot of it is more maintaining what I already do, I can't wait to drive lots! I drove for the first time yesterday and it was really exciting!

  • Happy and healthy family
  • Amazing friends
  • A wonderful boyfriend
  • Good grades
  • A beautiful house
  • Awesome guinea pigs

What more could one ask for!? :)

Success.

So even though I was scared, even though my body was filled with anxiety and I was close to tears, I pulled off the english oral and japanese conversation I had to do. This wasn't a fluke, if I hadn't have prepared the way I did and for the amount I practiced, my results would have differed.

I have realised today how much hard work pays off. Even though I literally felt sick whilst going through both assessments, I managed to perform at a high level. I now need to learn how to control my anxiety. But through hard work I suceeded, I got A's for both presentations :)

Wish me luck for my week ahead!

I feel....content!
For once I'm not being overwhelmed by an emotion (good or bad). I've had a really nice week and weekend and I'm feeling organised and in control of my life. I have a lot on this week, and usually on a Sunday I would be freaking out. I have a big sport science test tomorrow, a japanese conversation tues, a 5min english oral on tues and a kanji test on thursday. It's going to be big, but I'm looking forward to the challenge.

There were periods of time last year where I had a massive workload as I do right now and absolutely freaked out and lost the plot, but I have learnt through time and experience how I work and study well. I also currently have the motivation to carry on with my study because I want to suceed. I've realise to suceed, I need to work hard. And sometimes when I work hard, I don't have time to worry about the things in life that get me down.

So even though I have a very big week ahead of me in which my expectations in the results I recieve will be high, I'm ready for it and i'm ready to embrace it. I also know that if I don't do well, I will have ample opportunities to improve my marks over the year.

Dessen's done it again

So wow, I just finished Lock and Key by Sarah Dessen.

As usual, Dessen addresses many teen issues within the book. Love, pressure, relationships, family issues, etc. My English teacher today told me that she reads a Dessen book to get some time out of life for herself. This is what Dessen does, her books fully engross you and you literally can't put them down until you finish.

In this particular book, Ruby Cooper (17) has been abandonned by her mother and sent to live with her sister who she hasn't seen or heard from in roughly 10 years. Her sister Cora (now rich, a lawyer and married) has fought to have custody over Ruby.

Through the relationships she forms, Ruby learns to accept help and love people. The walls fall down and she becomes a beautiful person.

I loved this book so much. I love Sarah Dessen so much. :)

No One Deserves To Be Bullied.

So I read a book yesterday. It was quite old, but a message still got through to me.
Bullying can happen in a number of ways. It may not always be visible, and sometimes it may be so subtle that you don't even realise it's happening. It can lead to depression and thoughts of suicide, and in extreme cases, actual suicide. Just thinking about what people have gone through, through bullying depresses me. But instead of being depressed about it, I've decided I should do something about it. I've decided to start off with writing this blog post and creating a page on facebook.

I've been bullied, and it wasn't even severe, but it hurt. I was bullied only minimally and I felt so hurt, I hate to think how others feel who have been bullied much worse than me.

"Sticks and stones may break you bones, but words will never hurt you."

I believe that this quote is only true if you don't let the words hurt you.
But it's so hard to not let it hurt you.

The book I read was What's Your Problem? by Sherry Ashworth

Bullshit.

Being at school and now being the brightest or most organised of students, I have learnt the magic art of 'bullshitting' my way through tests when I don't know an answer. I mean, it can only work to an extent, and I have to have basic background of the topic (unless it's multiple choice, then I usually take an educated guess.) But the amount of times I have made something up that sounds semi right that I have earnt marks for on a test have been endless. I do well in school. Not the best - that's Steph for sure, but I do well.

But I now find myself in the situation where I can't really crap on about nothing. Being in year 11 now, everything that is assessed is marked down, and everything that is marked down goes towards our end of year results. And I really want to do well! So I've studied. I study for at least an hour a night, and sometimes up to 3. I have this in class essay tomorrow (which I have studied for), but still I don't feel as though I'm going to do well. In class essays are my most hated of assessments to complete as I seem to rush to get all my points down and never elaborate as much as I would like to.

I just want to do well. But I stress so much over remembering all my points and my quotes and rush so much during the time to get all my points down that the essay always relates poorly to the writing that I can do in my spare time. In my last in class essay I go an A-. I'm hoping to stay at that benchmark...I don't feel confident enough to say that I want an A, because right now it really doesn't seem achievable.

I love names.

For as long as I can remember, I've been obsessed with names. I just love names so much that every Saturday my mum and I read the birth notices and discuss all the new born names. Here are the names from yesterday's paper and my thoughts on them. I also like determining if their names go with the names of their siblings.

Hugh William - Both names are nice, Hugh is becoming pretty popular lately. 8/10. Has a brother named Evan, Hugh and Evan go nicely together.

Charlotte Isabelle - I absolutely adore both of these names. Even though they are both very popular, they are simplistic and beautiful. 9/10

Abby Suzanne Elizabeth - I have this thing where for most names I can't stand it if the parents have named them a nickname as their full name, such as Abby. Not the biggest of fans of either nicknames, but I get the feeling that there is some sort of family meaning behind them. 6.5/10

William Alexander - Both names are great, would have preferred Alexander William, but it is still a fantastic combo. 8.5/10

Riley Peter - I'm not a fan of the name Riley, but I love the name Peter. 7/10

Charlie Frederick - This is a name in which I can tolerate it being a nickname as the first name. The name Charlie has become really popular lately and I adore it. I'm not a very big fan of Frederick though, so that brings my rating down a bit. 8/10

James Alexander - A classic and beautiful name. 8.5/10 Brother for Amy and Benjamin. Amy, Benajmin and James go very nicely together :)

Hudson Richard - I went through a phase really liking the name Hudson, but I have recently fallen out of that phase. It's a bit too out there for me. 6.5/10

James Kenneth  - I like it, but it's nothing spectacular. 7/10 Brother for Alex and Mikayla. Not a fan of the family combo much.

Estelle Lucia - Oh how I wish this name was Estella! I don't particulary like either names, but it does sound rather pretty. 6.5/10

Isabella Kronhoej - First off, I adore the name Isabella. I figure Kronhoej has some sort of family meaning. 8/10

Cameron Elliot - Like Cameron, but not really Elliot. Both are pretty decent name though. 7.5/10

Zachary Laurence - I really don't like either names. 4/10

And that's it! There are usually more names, but there was still a bit to work with :)
My top boy and girl names were:
William Alexander and Charlotte Isabelle
